For several years, I sent out a blog to readers a few times a week. These posts gave pointers about how to practice, shared relevant stories, and provided a way for people to connect with my coaching approach. In 2022, I wrote my book, Before You Say Anything, which brought many of these ideas together in one place. The blog posts have continued to resonate with clients and readers, and they're useful as a quick reminder, so I'm including them here!

I write a lot (and think, and coach) about deliberate, productive intention. What is the outcome we seek from our communication, and what can we do on purpose to help bring that outcome about?

It’s not enough to think about intention. We have to figure out how to activate it. After all, we understand other people’s intention through their behavior—we aren’t mind readers.

Combining intention and action; that’s what we’re really after. The New York Times article linked below addresses the same topic in a bit of a different way, and I think it’s helpful insight. How can we move the idea of intention into our daily routines? How do we turn intention into action?
